Types of Abortion

Medication Abortion

Only women up to 10 weeks pregnant are eligible for medication abortion.

Surgical Abortion

D&E (Dilation and Evacuation) abortion is done after 14 weeks, while aspiration abortions are done up to 14 weeks of pregnancy. Surgical abortion involves dilating the cervix and removing the content of the pregnancy. The major difference between the two is with a D&E, forceps and other medical instruments are used to scrape the inside of the uterus at the end.
